Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is a way of teaching where subject content for example, history, science or maths etc. is taught in another language. CLIL and bilingual education are increasingly getting popular across Europe and it is supported not only to take account of and strengthen the language component in subject learning but to focus on the development of cognitive and academic literacy.
Although CLIL may be the proper methodology for language teaching and learning in a multilingual Europe, there still remains a lack of materials and teacher training programs. Both language and subject teachers will leave this course with a clear idea of CLIL teaching and its practice into their own classroom by handling following perspectives; what is, what are the advantages of using and how do you use CLIL in their classes, what are the challenges of this dual system and how to deal with, innovative practical ideas for foreign language teaching, concrete activities and methods that could be integrated in a real course and current good practices and developments.
