REDUCING EARLY SCHOOL LEAVING COURSE DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
Early school leaving (ESL) is a multi-faceted and complex problem caused by a cumulative process of disengagement. It is a result of personal, social, economic, emotional, education or family-related reasons.
Schools play the most important role in addressing ESL but they cannot and should not work alone. Comprehensive approaches that focus on the root causes are required to reduce ESL.
Reducing ESL can help towards the integration of young people into the labour market, and it can contribute to breaking the cycle of deprivation that leads to the social exclusion of many young people. During the course, the participants will learn how to identify the causes of ESL and the best approaches and strategies to prevent, tackle and reduce it.
The course doesn’t offer quick solutions; instead, it shows how to achieve lasting results in the long term with a holistic and systemic approach.
