CLIL is an innovative educational approach where subjects are taught in a foreign language, enhancing both content knowledge and language proficiency simultaneously. This course aims to provide educators with a comprehensive understanding of CLIL methodology, practical strategies for implementation, and the tools necessary to create an engaging and effective bilingual learning environment.   • Course Overview and Objectives
  • Introduction to CLIL: History, principles, and benefits
  • Understanding the 4Cs framework (Content, Communication, Cognition, Culture)
  • Exploring different CLIL models and their applications
  • Case studies of successful CLIL implementations

Day 2 / 09:00 -14:00: Designing CLIL Lessons

  • Principles of CLIL lesson design
  • Setting integrated content and language objectives
  • Workshop: Designing a CLIL lesson plan
  • Techniques for supporting language development within the content area
  • Using scaffolding to aid comprehension and production
  • Activity: Developing language support activities for a CLIL lesson

Day 3 / 09:00 -14:00: Resources and Materials for CLIL

  • Criteria for choosing appropriate CLIL resources
  • Adapting existing materials for CLIL purposes
  • Hands-on activity: Evaluating and adapting educational resources
  • Developing original CLIL materials
  • Incorporating multimedia and technology in CLIL lessons
  • Workshop: Creating and sharing CLIL teaching materials

Day 4 / 09:00 -14:00: Implementing CLIL in the Classroom

  • Strategies for managing a CLIL classroom
  • Encouraging student participation and interaction
  • Activity: Role-playing classroom scenarios
  • Assessing content knowledge and language skills
  • Formative and summative assessment techniques
  • Workshop: Designing assessment tools for CLIL

Day 5 / 09:00 -14:00: Addressing Challenges and Reflecting on Practice

  • Common challenges and solutions in CLIL implementation
  • Participants develop a comprehensive CLIL lesson or unit plan
  • Presentations and peer feedback
  • Course wrap-up, reflections, and certificate awarding ceremony
