CLIL Course description

DESCRIPTION

Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is a way of teaching where course content, such as history, science or maths etc., is taught in another language.

CLIL and bilingual education are increasingly getting popular across Europe and it is supported not only to take account of and strengthen the language component in subject learning but also to focus on the development of cognitive and academic literacy. Although CLIL may be the proper methodology for language teaching and learning in a multilingual Europe, there still remains a lack of materials and teacher training programs.

Both language and subject teachers will leave this course with a clear idea of CLIL teaching and its practice into their own classroom by handling the following perspectives: what is CLIL, what are the advantages of using it and how do you use it in class; what are the challenges of this dual system and how to deal with it; innovative practical ideas for foreign language teaching; concrete activities and methods that could be integrated in a real course and current good practices and developments.
